US Coast Guard Comment Request: Describe the distance from aid that you start looking for it, and if and how you use the signal.

Example: Distance from Aid:

When navigating near the breakwater, I typically look for navigational aids at (insert distance e.g., 500 feet away) However, inadequate lighting and marking of the jetty make it difficult to assess my position accurately until I am alarming close.

Example: Use of Signals:

In instances where visibility is low, I rely on my sound signaling devises, such as a horn, and I utilize navigation lights, however, the lack of clear markers and sufficient lighting along the jetty often hampers effective communication and safe navigation. I urge the Coast Guard to consider installing brighter lights and clearer signage to enhance visibility and prevent future accidents. The recent tragedy that claimed the lives of 3 young men, underscores the needs for these improvements. Every year we experience accidents in this area, and it is imperative that we take proactive measures to ensure the safety of all boaters.
